Bio
I trained in art at middle school and high school in Garland, Texas and then got back into it after college in Austin Texas, studying under the best — Steve Dubov. My college degree from the University of Texas at Dallas is in Literature with an emphasis on creative writing. The word used most often to describe me is “creative.” The next word is “funny.” I wouldn’t have it any other way. Most of my sculptures (or any art I do) are of animals. “Whimsical” is how people describe my work, which just matches my personality. I swore to myself as a child that I would never grow up and lose that specialness that children possess — that insight to life; observation; inquisitiveness; and the eagerness to learn that adults tend to lose over time. While the years press by and I have no choice but to act like an adult, my art gives me an outlet to have fun and make people smile — just like a child’s misuse of a word might amuse her parents.
I currently live in Lockhart, Texas with my husband Seth, and our myriad of animals. I don’t have the time or training to be a Jeff Corwin, or the courage to be a Muppet. Instead, I create sculptures to make people smile.
